Huron University Foundation Awards Nursing Scholarship
The Huron University Foundation in conjunction with The Huron Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Madison Hershman, Huron has received a foundation scholarship which will allow her to pursue a nursing career in our community.
Hershman is an LPN student in the Southeast Technical College program at Huron Community Campus. In return for her $8,000 scholarship Madison has agreed to work in Huron for at least three years. She is currently employed as a nurse’s aide on the medical floor at Huron Regional Medical Center.
“HUF realizes the importance of health care in our community and has made its second three year commitment to local health care education” according to David Wheeler, HUF Chairman.
The Huron University Foundation is the lasting legacy of Huron College/Huron University. The Foundation is responsible for the stipends of the Huron Community Campus university professors. The HU Foundation funds are held and managed by the South Dakota Community Foundation. With funds held by the SDCF, there will be a source of “educational funding in perpetuity” available in our community.
