HRMC Foundation’s Papa Luigi Dancing with the Stars raises Record $89,000

The Huron Event Center was filled with nostalgia of prom’s past on March 28 as a sold-out crowd gathered for the 27th Annual Papa Luigi featuring Dancing with the Stars, benefiting the HRMC Foundation. Guests arrived dressed in their finest “Prom Through the Ages” attire, setting the stage for an evening of entertainment and philanthropy.

Six star-couples took to the dance floor, each competing for the coveted mirror-ball trophy. The evening showcased not only impressive performances but also the power of community support, as winners were determined by donations, each dollar representing one vote.

At the conclusion of the night, Mark and Jessica Harvey were crowned Season Two Champions. In a fitting tribute to the evening’s theme, they were also named prom king and queen. Season one champions, Dr. Anthony and Emma Loewen, returned to the stage to pass the crown to the new winners.

Mark Harvey reflected on the journey leading up to the performance, “The process was very daunting at first, but over time we learned to expect that each step would be more difficult than the last. It was extremely fun, but always a challenge. However, Tarin was such an amazing instructor that she kept us on track every step of the way.” He also expressed gratitude for the support. “We are incredibly grateful for every single person who supported us and donated to the HRMC Foundation. Knowing that each dollar represented a ‘vote’ made it even more meaningful. The support not only meant so much to us personally, but it also helped make a positive impact through the Foundation.”

Jessica Harvey added a heartfelt perspective on the impact of local healthcare, “We are incredibly fortunate to have an independent healthcare system right here in Huron. HRMC has been there for our family during emergencies and everyday moments alike. They provide so many services to Huron and the surrounding communities—it’s hard to imagine what we’d do without them.”

Adding to the excitement, choreographer and instructor Tarin Oyler and Dr. Vincent Oyler delivered a special encore performance that brought the crowd to its feet.

Oyler shared her passion and connection to the event, “When we moved to Huron, I had been retired from ballroom dancing, so I had no intentions of teaching dance here. But, this event created a way for me to connect to this amazing community and it provided a way for me to give back to HRMC for being so good to me and my husband. I’ve had the pleasure to meet and befriend many through the HRMC Foundation events, which has provided such a fulfillment and sense of belonging for me here in Huron.” She continued, “I truly appreciate HRMC and the Foundation for giving me this opportunity.”

The event raised over $89,000, setting a new record for the fundraiser. Proceeds from the evening will support the HRMC Foundation in its mission to keep quality healthcare local through investments in people, technology, and wellness initiatives.
