Colleen Yunker Education Fund to Benefit HRMC Foundation Scholarships

Three students will help meet a need for medical professionals in our area, thanks to the generosity of a donor who was dedicated to local health care and education.

The Colleen Yunker Education Fund was established at South Dakota Community Foundation in 2021 to support students committed to studying and working in South Dakota. In addition, a portion of the funds have been designated each year for the Huron Regional Medical Center Foundation's Healthy Huron scholarship fund.

Allyson Boomsma, Serena Cardona, and Kaylei Ross were awarded scholarships through the fund. All three recipients are pursuing Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees at South Dakota State University.

Under the terms of the scholarship fund, all three have committed to return to work at HRMC or in the Huron community, helping meet the need for trained medical professionals.

The Colleen Yunker Education Fund is part of the Steele Family Foundation at SDCF.
