Prostrollo Motor Sales and Runnings of Huron Raise Over $5,500 to Fight Breast Cancer

Between the 6th annual One-Mile Walk for Breast Cancer, hosted by Prostrollo Motor Sales and the annual Runnings’ Ladies Night Out, a total of $5,578 was raised to help support breast cancer awareness and early detection in Huron.

More than 150 walkers made the one-mile trek around Ravine Lake on October 14, 2022, for the Prostrollo Motor Sales One-Mile Walk for Breast Cancer. Walk registrations, donations and raffle ticket sales contributed to the total of $3,234. Pictures of the event can be found online at https://www.facebook.com/hrmcfoundation.

On October 19, Runnings of Huron hosted their annual Ladies Night Out, raising $2,344 through pink ribbon sales, an employee-sponsored raffle and a portion of the pink bucket sales from the evening. This year’s funds bring the total raised by the Huron-based Runnings’ store to more than $19,000 in over 11 years of hosting the event.

Contributions from October breast cancer fundraising events are placed in the HRMC Foundation We’ve Got You Covered breast cancer fund which supports local breast health education and offers free mammograms for those in need. “The Prostrollo Motor Sales and Runnings teams put forth a great amount of energy and planning into hosting these wonderful events to support women in our community and the fight against breast cancer.  We’re extremely thankful for their support,” said Shawn Martin, HRMC Foundation executive director.

Over $21,000 was raised for the We’ve Got You Covered Fund this year. In addition to the Runnings and Prostrollo events, nearly $9,000 was raised by the Huron Volleyball team through t-shirt sales and an online auction. Additionally, the Golfing for a Cause tournament in June and Cookie Dough Cupcakes pink ribbon cupcake sales raised over $7,000.

Area women concerned about finances when scheduling a mammogram are invited to call 605-353-6214 or can apply for financial assistance online at www.huronregional.org/mammos.  All inquiries are confidential.
