Inaugural Dialysis Dash Raises Nearly $4,000 for HRMC Dialysis Unit

Nearly 40 brave and hearty souls turned out to walk, run and help with the Inaugural Dialysis Dash held April 30 at Memorial Park in Huron. Nearly 60 had registered, but when the morning of the event arrived, pelting rain and strong winds no doubt had some participants choosing to call the registration a donation and not participate in the 5K and 10K run or walk events. Thanks to the generosity of all of the entrants as well as the sponsors, $3,925 was raised to support the renovation and expansion of the dialysis unit at Huron Regional Medical Center. Currently, the unit is located in the Central Towers on the hospital campus and is not large enough to care for all of those in the region needing dialysis treatments. This event along with the Leadership Huron Class of 2022 fundraising events is kicking of the fundraising to expand, renovate and possibly relocate the dialysis unit to serve those who are currently on a waiting list and driving to other communities three times per week to receive the life-sustaining treatment.
